The Edmonton Branch of The United Empire Loyalists' Association of Canada
The first branch of the United Empire Loyalists in Edmonton was organized on November 6, 1912. It was only in existence for two to three years when World War I intervened, causing the Branch to fold. In 1934 it was reactivated as the Fort Edmonton Branch and was organized by 17 prominent lawyers and doctors. Again war resulted in the demise of the Branch.
During the 1980s some former members of the Fort Edmonton Branch drove to Calgary to attend Calgary Branch meetings. These members met again and on May 11, 1987 the Edmonton Branch became a reality and has continued since that time.
The United Empire Loyalists' Association of Canada has branches across Canada, with headquarters in Toronto.
